On May 1, Grade 9 and 10 students from I.E. Weldon Secondary School (IEWSS) participated in the Dream It, Be It: Career Planning for Girls Program, facilitated by Soroptimist International of Kawartha Lakes.
The day-long workshop provides students with career support and guidance through interactive, hands-on activities.
The morning kicked off with a keynote speaker and BGC Kawartha Lakes executive director, Amy Terrill, who spoke about her journey in her career and how to identify and adapt skills to new opportunities. Participants then heard from a speaker panel with representatives from various fields, including the co-owner of Kindred Coffee, a photographer and trapper, a funeral director and co-owner of Stoddart Funeral Home, and a Canada Border Services officer.
