April 24, 2024: Hey Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Grade 9 to 12 students! TLDSB is seeking student contract positions to support the upcoming Summer Learning Program.

Taking place from July 5 to 29, the program is available to primary students in Grades 1-3 to support them with their literacy skills, and for students in Grades 3-4 to support them in math, and also involves camp-like recreational opportunities.

The available student assistant positions will be at the following locations:

  • Archie Stouffer Elementary School in Minden
  • Langton Public School in Fenelon Falls
  • Leslie Frost Public School in Lindsay
  • Monck Public School in Bracebridge
  • Muskoka Beechgrove Public School in Gravenhurst
  • Riverside Public School in Huntsville

The deadline to apply for the position is Friday, May 3 at 4 p.m.

We are recruiting Student Volunteers starting this month. Work towards your Community Service Hours with us in a fun, friendly environment. There will be various scheduled events coming up with different activities in our growing community.

First event happening Sunday April 28th, 2024: Arrive 1:30pm. Be with the children from 2:00-4:00pm. Clean up 4:00-4:30pm.

March 6, 2024: Mother’s Helper wanted.  Local family is looking for volunteer student helpers to assist daily, for a couple hours with the following:

Play/entertain 2 children; go for walks; play puzzles; play on playground swings;. play dress up; play outside; help with groceries at the store; go on “field trips” to fun places: maybe light duties around the house like yard work, etc.

There are animals: kittens, chicken and a pup. Lots of fun things to do on site. We will make it interesting for everyone and switch it up as much as possible.

Hours and time are flexible, but preferably in the am or after 3

Camp Huronda Maintenance Assistant

Camp Huronda located at 1252 South Waseosa Lake road is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Assistant to support our operations and ensure the smooth functioning of our camp facilities. The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance duties, including repairs, installations, general upkeep and cleaning of washrooms. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for campers and staff alike.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections of camp facilities, identifying any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks, under supervision of facilities coordinator.
  • Carry out regular maintenance of camp grounds, including landscaping, cleaning , and waste management.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by conducting regular inspections and addressing any issues promptly.
  •  Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies needed for maintenance tasks.
  •  Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate maintenance activities and prioritize tasks.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner.
  •  Assist in maintaining records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and equipment maintenance schedules.

Requirements:

  • 16 years old or older 
  • Proven experience in general maintenance or a willingness to learn 
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair techniques.
  • Basic understanding of landscaping and gardening principles.
  •  Ability to operate and maintain various tools and equipment used for maintenance tasks.
  •  Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  •  Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  •  Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with camp staff and volunteers.
  •  Flexibility to work weekends, and holidays as needed.

Note:  Lunch is provided while on shift, there is a possibility to stay onsite for summer season as well.
